In the wee hours of the morning as Mike was looking for a run-away boy, he saw little Laban sleeping in a rice sack. Filled with the compassion of Jesus, Mike asked if he wanted to go home and Laban stretched out his filthy hand to Mike and came home. Barely 5 years old, Laban had a difficult time explaining why he was on the streets. A few days later days a young, strong looking lady came to our door and asked if her son Laban was here. She was reluctant to take him home but we insisted. However within hours he was back on the streets sniffing glue so Mike brought him home again. Several weeks later John Kela, Laban’s 10 year old brother, showed up at PATHWAYS. John explained that his papa comes home drunk and beats them all. Then they run to the streets. Their mama has run too and they don’t know where she went.
